In the final book of Torah, Moses reviews the history and the laws given to the Jewish people (the Greek name Deuteronomy comes from the phrase Mishneh haTorah (Deut. 17:18), which means "the second telling of the law"). Obeying God's laws will bring blessing, while spurning them will bring disaster. Idolatry is repeatedly denounced.
