Hebrew Word of the Week
Based on the Weekly Torah Portion
The Hebrew word of the week is mavet ("death"), taken from the Torah portion called Acharei Mot. The construct form of this word appears in the first verse of the Torah portion (i.e, Leviticus 16:1):
Mavet derives from a Hebrew root mut (Strong# 4191; TWOT# 1169). Here are some other words that use the same root:
See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil (Deut 30:15)
Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death. (Jer 21:8)
You also have died to the Torah through the body of Christ (Rom 7:4, HNT)
