Thanks - and a question

Postby Guest » Mon Jul 27, 2009 12:31 am

I have always wanted to read the bible in the purest form possible, its original language. For a while I threw around the idea of learning Greek but then I found your site and instantly knew that I was going to learn hebrew instead. I haven't gotten very far but every day I pray and ask the Lord for wisdom in my studying. I am taking my time, and making sure that I master each letter before moving on to the next. So far I am working on ten letters and each day I say them as I write them each at least ten times in print and cursive. You have a wonderful way of making such and intimidating language simple and easy.

I also have a couple of questions. I was introduced to the idea of celebrating bibical holidays thru a blog that I read. I followed some of thier links and found your site. I haven't gotten to the holiday section in your site yet because I would first like to work on my hebrew and then perhaps start studying the holidays. And I also still live with my parents and they don't believe in celebrating them. So I am some what limited as to what I really can and can't do. But I look forward to the day that God blesses me with a husband who believes the same as me about this subject. Do you believe that we are still under the old law was basically the question I was getting at. I am still praying about this and studying the word to see what I truly believe.

And I also wanted to tell you what a help your homeschool rescources have been. I have a six year old sister and she has shown a lot of potential in the language. My question is whether I should teach her how to write the letters in print or cursive. I like I said am teaching myself, but for her I am not so sure.

Last but not least is where should I start in my quest to become more of a "old testament abiding Christian"? There is so much information out ther that I am quite overwhelmed as to where I should start.

Thank you,
Briana

:hullo: Briana,

Lots of questions! First, please take some time to look through the Hebrew4Christians main site (http://hebrew4christians.com). Nearly every question you've raised is addressed on the site, including questions about the relationship between Torah and the New Covenant. I don't mean to brush you off, but I've spent innumerable hours writing about these things on the main site and don't have the time or energy to rehash things here. Also, bear in mind that this line of study takes YEARS to work through... Slow down, ask the LORD for wisdom, and then endeavor to understand the various issues. Yeshua will guide you if you seek His face.

Thank you for writing, and berachot.
