Holy Communion?

Postby Guest » Mon Nov 07, 2011 4:35 am

Could you tell me the origin of the term 'Holy Communion' and where it originated and should today's Church's especially Mesianic churches be referring and/or practising Holy Communion or not? Did Holy Communion originate from the Roman Catholic Church and was this really instituted by Yaweh himself for us to perform?

That idea is based on the idea of atonement (kapparah) rituals performed at the Tabernacle/Temple, so there is a basis for ascribing this to the Passover Seder of Yeshua regarding the institution of the New Covenant.... Roman Catholicism is essentially "supercessionist" in its theology, so the idea of "communion" flows from their interpretation of the original ideas presented in the Torah. Shalom
